Prairie Stars Look to Continue Hot Streak on the Road

SPRINGFIELD, IL --- Coming off two wins in Great Lakes Valley Conference play, the Prairie Stars will hit the road to face Missouri S&T and Drury as they look to continue their current winning streak. With five-games remaining in the regular season, Illinois Springfield will travel for three consecutive games before coming home to face-off against Southern Indiana and Bellarmine in the final two-home games of the season.

SETTING THE SCENE
Illinois Springfield (9-17, 2-11) is coming off back-to-back wins over UMSL (13-11, 7-6) and Maryville (3-23, 1-12). Picking up their first two GLVC wins of the year, the Prairie Stars will now travel to Missouri S&T (9-16, 4-9) and Drury (18-8, 8-5) as they look to jump ahead of Saint Joseph's in the GLVC east standings.

Missouri S&T has lost four of their last five matches, falling in five-set in two of those decisions. The Miners are beginning a five-game home stand to close out the regular season as they look to make a push into the GLVC tournament. The Miners recently split a weekend series with Southern Indiana and Bellarmine. Missouri S&T beat Southern Indiana 3-1 before falling to Bellarmine 1-3.

Drury enters the match fourth in the GLVC west as they are looking to make a push into the top-three to earn an automatic bid into the GLVC tournament. The Panthers are winners of six of their last eight matches with losses coming to Quincy and Bellarmine, both on the road. The Panthers are beginning the final stretch of the regular season as they will play four of their final five games at home.

AMONG THE GLVC'S BEST
In three matches last week, the Prairie Stars went 2-1 but freshman middle Alli Splitt continued her dominance of the GLVC this season. She tallied 29 kills against just four errors, including a seven kill and zero error effort in a three-game sweep of Maryville. Splitt is now second in the GLVC in attack percentage, hitting .373 on the season, which is 52 points higher than the current UIS single-season record.

Alyssa Hasler currently leads the conference in total blocks (117), three ahead of Natalie Brimeyer of Truman State. The sophomore middle is averaging 1.22 blocks per set and has 103 block assists and 14 solo blocks on the year. In large part to Hasler, the Prairie Stars are second in the conference in total blocks and blocks per set. UIS is one of three teams with over 200 blocks on the year, totaling 209.5 and average 2.16 blocks per set.

RECORD BOOK WATCH
As previously stated, Splitt is on track to demolish the single-season attack percentage record, currently held by Ellie Minder in the 2001 season. Splitt is currently attacking at a .373 clip, 52 points better than Minder's .321 mark.

Last week, Lexi Hall surpassed Sara Henkelman for fourth all-time on the assists leaderboard. The junior setter now has 1,417 career assists and is 130 assists away from Rebeka Pruemer for third all-time.

Alyssa Hasler has overtaken 2016 Hall of Fame Inductee Audra Roach as they all-time lead in block assists. The sophomore middle now has 204 block assists in 211 sets, besting the 190 mark set by Roach from 2003-06. Hasler has 236 total blocks in her career, 75 behind the 311 mark of Roach.

Kayla Katarzynski is currently third all-time on the digs list, totaling 1,658 career digs. She sits 29 digs behind Lauren Sanders for second all-time and 125 behind Ali Janezic for the all-time record.

COMING UP NEXT
