UIS Volleyball Meets Quincy Home and Away This Week

10/19/2026 3:00:00 PM

Illinois Springfield volleyball will meet Quincy twice this week, beginning with a non-conference matchup at home on Tuesday at 6 p.m. before traveling to Quincy for a Great Lakes Valley Conference contest on Saturday at 3 p.m. Quincy leads the all-time series 11-8, with the Prairie Stars looking to gain ground in the two meetings this week.

Tuesday's match at TRAC will feature the We Are Stars theme, bringing Prairie Stars student-athletes from across the athletics department together to support volleyball. The match will also serve as the Cancer Awareness Match, with proceeds from a bake sale benefiting the American Cancer Society. UIS partner Springfield Clinic will be on-site for the event.

The Prairie Stars enter the week with momentum after going 3-0 at the Midwest Region Crossover last weekend. UIS capped the tournament with a five-set win over Purdue Northwest, earning a measure of revenge against a team that defeated the Stars earlier this season. Illinois Springfield also defeated Lake Superior State and Thomas More during the weekend.

Serving was a major strength throughout the tournament, as the Prairie Stars recorded 34 service aces across three matches. UIS delivered 15 aces in four sets against Lake Superior State, seven from Kendall Johnson.

Johnson leads the Prairie Stars with 200 kills and 27 service aces this season. Khadijah Blue has added 115 kills and provides a presence at the net with 53 total blocks, including four solo blocks. Setter Madi Siefken has distributed 421 assists, averaging 5.77 per set.

UIS is 4-17 overall and 1-7 in GLVC play, with five conference matches remaining. The Prairie Stars will look to carry their crossover success into the final stretch of league competition.

Quincy enters the week at 15-8 overall and 3-5 in conference play after also finishing 3-0 at the Midwest Region Crossover. The Hawks defeated Northwood, Lake Erie and Davenport, contributing to a 32-10 combined record by GLVC teams at the tournament.

Aysem Kocaalp leads Quincy with 266 kills and 42 service aces, averaging 3.28 kills and 0.52 aces per set. Erin Matzke has recorded 70 total blocks, while Amber Glen leads the Hawks defensively with 318 digs, averaging 3.70 per set.

UMSL leads the GLVC at 8-0 and has clinched a spot in the conference tournament. Indianapolis and Rockhurst follow at 6-1, while Quincy sits among the teams chasing position in the conference standings.

The Prairie Stars will first welcome the Hawks to TRAC on Tuesday before the teams meet again in Quincy on Saturday in a conference matchup.
