PUERTO RICO --- In their final tournament of the fall season, the Prairie Stars hosted the UIS Island Invite at the Rio Mar Country Club in Rio Grande Puerto Rico. Illinois Springfield took second in the five team field but it was Nathan Goecks that highlighted the field, firing consecutive rounds under par to finish at -4 and collect his fourth career victory, the most by any UIS golfer.

Goecks, a senior from Lannon, Wisconsin, opened the tournament with a one-under 71, putting him in a tie with Olav Zandveld from Valdosta State. Goecks though, separated himself from the field with a final round 69, becoming the only player in the field on the second day to break par. His three-under final round gave the senior a six-stroke victory in the 28-player field and boosted him ahead of Talon Supak for the most wins in UIS history.

Goecks tied with teammate Erik Thulien in par-three scoring, topping the field at even par. He was one stroke back of the leader in par-four scoring, also playing those at even par, but made his ground on the par-fives, scoring a total of four-under to lead the field. His seven birdies tied him for the most in the field while his 26 pars was second. His four-under total score matches the best 'to-par' score, tying Scott Belcher and current teammate Supak.

UIS placed second as a team firing an opening round 302 before cutting eight strokes off for a 294 in the final day.

Thulien finished in fifth place (74-74—148) while Supak took seventh (78-72—150). Louis Bagur (79-81—160) and Trevor Flota (81-79—160) each finished T15 to round out the five team scorers for the Prairie Stars.

As individuals, James Scagell (76-79—155) finished T10 while Mitch McCafferty (84-80—164) placed 22^nd.

The tournament concluded the fall season for the Prairie Stars who will resume with their championship season in the spring.
