LIBERTY, MO --- The Prairie Stars (6-7-1, 5-5-1) picked up an overtime win over William Jewell (2-11, 2-9) on Friday night as
Mario Falsone notched the OT winner. Illinois Springfield fell behind in the second half as the Cardinals got on the board in the 56
th minute, but came back with a late equalizer as
Eoin Watts netted the tying goal in the 87
th minute.
In overtime, Falsone netted his fifth goal of the season in the fourth minute of the extra time, taking a pass from
Naba Alzhyri and ending the game. Watts' goal in the 87
th minute was an unassisted goal.
William Jewell was charged with five yellow cards and two red cards on the game while UIS was issued just one yellow. The shots were equal at 13 per team, though UIS held a 6-3 advantage in shots on goal.
This was the first overtime win for the Prairie Stars on the season as they get ready to face #1 Rockhurst University on Sunday. The Hawks suffered their first loss of the season on Friday, falling 1-0 to McKendree University. Â
