KANSAS CITY, MO --- The Prairie Stars (6-8-1, 5-6-1) hung with #1 Rockhurst (12-1-1, 10-1-1) but ultimately fell 3-1 to the top-ranked team in the nation. A scoreless first half set up an eventful final 45 minutes, as all four goals came in the latter half. Rockhurst scored three consecutive goals before Zach Allevi netted his team-leading sixth goal of the year to break the shutout.
Rockhurst began the second half with two goals in the first five minutes to take a 2-0 lead. In the 83
rd minute, they extended the lead to three as they put 17 shots up in the second half.
In the 87
th minute, Allevi scored on passes from
Naba Alzhyri and
Kanye Sayon for his sixth goal of the season. The senior striker now leads the team, with one more goal than fellow senior
Jack Coombes.
The Prairie Stars were outshot 24-5 on the day and were at a 13-1 shots on goal disadvantage.
Tommy Geile made nine saves in goal, tying a season-high. He also had nine saves against Drury on October 7
th in a 1-1 draw.
UIS will return home on Friday to face Bellarmine. This will serve as senior night for the Prairie Stars and the men will kick-off at 5:00 pm with the senior ceremony preceding the match.
