SPRINGFIELD, IL --- The women's soccer team faced off against Drury and Missouri S&T this past weekend during homecoming week at Illinois Springfield. The Prairie Stars split on the weekend, putting them in ninth place in the GLVC, currently one spot out of the eight-team GLVC conference tournament.
CURRENT GLVC STATUS
The Prairie Stars hold a 7-6 overall record with a 4-6 mark in GLVC play. This puts them in ninth place in the conference, just a touch outside of Lewis and Quincy for the final playoff spot. Earlier in the season, UIS beat Quincy 1-0 but fell to Lewis 3-1. UIS has five games remaining in the regular season schedule, two at home and three on the road.
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 7TH VS DRURY – L, 2-0
The Prairie Stars opened the weekend with a 2-0 defeat to Drury, surrendering a goal in each half. UIS outshot the Panthers in each half and ended with a 7-4 advantage in shots on goal but the Drury keeper made no mistakes, stopping all seven UIS shots.

Jasmine Rea each fired two shots on target while
Courtney Johnson made two saves in goal.
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 9TH VS MISSOURI S&T – W, 1-0
In the final game of the weekend, the Prairie Stars and Miners played to a scoreless tie in the first half before
Madisyn Coudriet found the back of the net in the 73
rd minute to give UIS the lead. They would hold that lead for their seventh win of the season, keeping them in the hunt for their first GLVC playoff appearance.
The goal was Coudriet's first of the season and first of her career at UIS. The game-winning goal was assisted by
Taylor Mraz as the junior gave UIS the lead they would not relinquish.
WHATS NEXT
The Prairie Stars will head on the road for three of their final five games, including the next two. UIS heads to William Jewell and Rockhurst for a road series. William Jewell is currently 2-8-2, 2-7-1 and sit 14
th in the GLVC while Rockhurst is receiving votes in the latest NSCAA National poll, sitting third in the conference at 10-1-2, 7-1-2.
