Millison Sets UIS All-Time Three-Point Mark; Prairie Stars Fall to #21 Wisconsin – Parkside

SPRINGFIELD, IL --- The University of Illinois Springfield (8-13, 2-9) hung with the 21st ranked team in the nation for much of the game, but in the end, Wisconsin – Parkside (16-3, 9-2) left Springfield with an 80-66 win over the Prairie Stars. With two three's, Jamall Millison set yet another mark in UIS history, as he became the all-time leader in three-point baskets with 178, passing Antonio Puckett.

The Rangers jumped out to an early lead but baskets from Davi Austin and Millison cut right back into the deficit. Down by 13 with under two minutes to go in the opening half, Millison hit back-to-back three's on consecutive possessions before Austin hit a jumper at the buzzer, giving UIS the momentum heading into the half.

Zach Steinberg and Austin came out of the break with layups before JJ Cravatta and Richard Freeman connected to but the deficit to just six with over 16 minutes remaining.

Down 51-43 with 13:27, Millison took over the next two minutes of the game scoring eight unanswered points for UIS. A jumper was followed by a steal and fast break layup before he connected on two more jumpers. Millison went 4-for-4 during the stretch and tied the game at 51-51 with 11:44 remaining, forcing the Rangers into a timeout.

UIS was never able to gain the lead though and Wisconsin – Parkside went on an 11-2 run out of the timeout to take a 62-53 lead. They would grow the lead to as much as 15 before UIS made one last run and cut their lead to six after Austin connected on two free throw attempts.

The Rangers closed out the game for a 14-point win and handed the Prairie Stars their second straight loss. Millison had a game-high 22 points and team-high six rebounds while Austin added 21 points and four assists. Wisconsin – Parkside grabbed 11 offensive rebounds, resulting in ten second chance points, but seemed to get them at the most inopportune times.

UIS turned 13 Parkside turnovers into 17 points but it wasn't enough to slow down the nationally ranked Rangers.

The Prairie Stars will head on the road for their second to last road trip as they take on Maryville on Thursday before suiting up against UMSL on Saturday. Maryville currently sits in seventh place in the GLVC west while UMSL has moved up to sixth in the same division over the past few games.
