SPRINGFIELD, IL - The University of Illinois Springfield volleyball team is ready to open its home slate against No. 13 Rockhurst and William Jewell on Friday and Saturday, respectively at The Recreation and Athletic Center. Game times are set for 7 p.m. on Friday and 3 p.m. on Saturday. Both games will be broadcast on the GLVC Sports Network and also have live stats.
QUICK HITS
- The Prairie Stars have played all 11 games away from Springfield to start the season going 2-9. In TRAC, UIS is 15-24 over the past three seasons.
- Junior Ashley Beaton (Wildwood, Mo.) leads the team with 136 kills, while Nikki Madoch is second with 101. Beaton is eighth in the conference in kills per set (3.29).
- Junior Kayla Katarzynski (Winfield, Ill.) passed the 1,000-dig mark during the non-conference portion of the schedule. She now has 1,016 for her career.
- Freshman Tiffany Wentworth (Omaha, Neb.) is leading the team with 296 assists and is just shy of being in the top 10 in the conference in helpers per set.
- Classmate Alyssa Hasler (South Bend, Ind.) is the team's biggest blocker as she owns 10 solo put backs and 40 assists to rank eighth in the GLVC.
SCOUTING ROCKHURST
- The Hawks are an impressive 11-1 on the season, falling only to Alaska Anchorage is ranked No. 10 in the nation
- Rockhurst has won all of its matches in straight sets.
- Morgan Rietzke currently leads the team with 120 kills, while Preecy Seever and Katie Loescher also top the century mark.
- Seever leads the GLVC in hitting percentage (.460) and is the conference's top blocker with 58 total stops.
- Leading the GLVC in helpers, Whitney Kostal runs the offense with a total of 435 and an average of 11.76 per set.
SCOUTING WILLIAM JEWELL
- Jewell (4-7) is looking to snap a three-game losing streak on the road this weekend. The Cardinals dropped their opening conference matches in straight sets.
- Grace Miller is sixth in the GLVC in blocks with 47 (1.24/s), while Raechel Meisinger is fourth in kills per set and owns 147 overall.
- The Cardinals are good on their serves as they own 87 aces to opponents 58, but are hitting below .130 for the season.
LAST TIME OUT- Rockhurst topped the Stars in straight sets in 2014. The Hawks dominated from start to finish with scores of 25-15, -19, -11 in Springfield, Ill. Two Hawks and one Star tallied 10 kills each.
- UIS was on the other side of the box score against William Jewell last year as it picked up a 3-1 victory on Senior Day. The Stars grabbed a win in the opening set and then picked up three and four to take the match. Former hitter

LOOKING AHEADThe Stars stay at home for another set of GLVC matches against Southern Indiana and Bellarmine on October 2 and 3, respectively.
