EUREKA, MO - The University of Illinois Springfield cross country team finished its first 5,000-meter race at the Maryville Six Flags Invite on Saturday morning with
Krissy Finley finishing in the top 10 of the pack.
Finley (Rochester, Ill.) ran a 19:43 5K and finished ninth overall, but two runners in front were unattached giving her seven points to the UIS team score. Finley helped UIS place 12th in the field.
Freshman
Lexi Yoggerst (Riverton, Ill.) was the next Prairie Star to cross the line, followed closely by junior
Amanda Dickens (Rockford, Ill.).
Finishing just a few runners behind, Emily Kroculik and
Madi Shane finished back-to-back. Maddie Logsdon closed out the pack for UIS.
The women now take a week to prep for the Illinois Intercollegiates on Friday, Oct. 2 in Jacksonville, Ill.
