QUINCY, IL - In a back-and-forth match, the University of Illinois Springfield was unable to close down the fifth set as the hosts Quincy grabbed a 3-2 victory on Friday evening at the Pepsi Center.

PRAIRIE STAR TOP PERFORMERS- Freshman setter Tiffany Wentworth (Omaha, Neb.) continued a trend of double-doubles with 28 assists and 12 digs.
- Junior Ashley Beaton (Wildwood, Mo.) led the team with 17 kills, while senior Nikki Madoch (Algonquin, Ill.) recorded 12.
- Freshman Alyssa Hasler (South Bend, Ind.) topped the Stars with 11 total blocks.
HOW IT HAPPENED- UIS dropped the opening set before responding with a 25-20 victory in the second.
- Quincy grabbed the third-set victory and then the Stars kept themselves in the match with a grind to a 27-25 victory.
- With the momentum in UIS' favor, the Stars were in prime position to take the match with a 14-11 score.
- Unfortunately, the Hawks dug deep and set down back-to-back kills followed by two blocks to jump out in front. A final block gave the hosts the first GLVC victory.
FOR THE OPPONENTS- Three players had double-digit kills with Gianna Lincoln pacing the team with 15. She also recorded 11 digs and three aces.
- The Hawks had 10 aces, but also had 11 service errors.
- Miranda Rodriguez just missed a double-double for the Hawks with 32 assists and nine digs.
UP NEXT: Prairie Stars stay on the road to face off with Truman. The Bulldogs lost a 3-1 decision to McKendree on Friday night.
