Women's tennis won its first conference victory in two years with a 6-3 victory against Saint Joseph's on Saturday afternoon. UIS is now 7-12 overall.
The teams are busy this week with each playing two non-conference matches before taking on three conference foes. UIS plays host to McKendree on Friday and Southern Indiana on Saturday. The Prairie Stars then trek over to Chatham Glenwood high school for a non-conference match against Quincy.

GolfLast Week - MGolf: The Jewell Region #3 - T15th/601
This Week - WGolf: Bash at the Beach, April 11 & 12; MGolf: The Purgatory Region, April 12 & 13Both golf teams are in action this week after the women had the previous week off. Women's golf travels to Daytona Beach, Fla. for the Bash at the Beach on Saturday. The men's squad begins play at the Purgatory Region #4 on Sunday, it's final tournament before the GLVC Championships.
This past week, the men took part in The Jewell Region #3 and tied for 15th place with a score 601.
SoftballLast Week - March 31: W, 15-2 (5), L, 5-0 vs. McKendree; April 3: W, 8-5, L, 7-1 at UW-Parkside; April 4: W, 5-4, L, 9-1 (5) at LewisThe Prairie Stars went 3-3 last week to move to 10-8 in conference play and 23-21 overall. UIS sits in eighth place in the league and will continue to fight for a spot in the GLVC Tournament in May. With a non-conference doubleheader scheduled to open the week, UIS will be busy. Lindenwood hosts UIS on Wednesday before the Stars take to the road again at Saint Joseph's and at nationally-ranked Indianapolis on Sunday.
Ashli King continues to top the offensive side for UIS. She is batting .341 and has a team-best five home runs and eight doubles. She also has a team-high 23 RBI and is second with 12 walks. Freshman
Rachel Goff is also batting above .300 with a .308 average and has six doubles and one home run along with 14 runs scored. In the circle,
Taylor Bowlby is 14-5 with a 2.44 ERA and 79 strikeouts.
Alexandria Smith is fifth in the GLVC with 104 strikeouts in 119.2 innings pitched.

This Week - April 11 & 12 vs Lewis (DH), 12 p.m.This week, the Prairie Stars host Lewis for a four game series beginning on Saturday. Saturday's game is Military Appreciation Day at the UIS Baseball Field.
UIS finished last week with a 4-2 record after sweeping Sunday's games with Saint Joseph's to earn a series split with the Pumas. The Prairie Stars won both games in extra innings in walk-off fashion.
Junior
Adam Warda (Skokie, Ill.) delivered the walk-off hit in game three of the series and the junior second baseman is one of the team's offensive leaders. He is batting .315 on the season and leads the team in doubles (11), runs (19), hits (34) and slugging percentage (.509).

UIS wraps up its spring schedule at the end of April with two more games at Kiwanis.
