MACOMB, Ill. - The University of Illinois Springfield baseball team fell to Western Illinois, 14-1, Wednesday afternoon at Alfred D. Boyer Stadium.
The Leathernecks scored early and often against the Prairie Stars, scoring six runs in the second and fourth innings. The teams combined for 16 hits on the day.

Adam Warda (Skokie, Ill.) drove in the lone run for UIS in the third inning. With two outs and a runner on third, the Warda singled to the third baseman, allowing shortstop
Kyle Hunsinger (Joliet, Ill.) to score.
12 different pitchers made appearances in the game, five for UIS and seven for Western Illinois. Junior
Gavin Collins (Camp Verde, Ariz.) was tabbed with his third loss of the season.
John Schram (Bloomingdale, Ill.) and
Aaron Kuper (Highland, Ill.) combined to throw two shutout innings to end the game.
The Prairie Stars are back in action this weekend at Indianapolis for a four-game series beginning on Saturday.
