SORRENTO, Fla. - The University of Illinois Springfield golf teams completed play at the UIS Beach Bash at the Eagle Dunes Golf Course on Thursday.
The men's team finished with a score of 301 led by sophomore
Talon Supak's (Washington, Ill.) one-over par 73. Central College's David Watson led the field with a four-under par 68.
Sophomores
Nathan Goecks (Lannon, Wis.) and
Trevor Flota (Mount Vernon, Ill.) finished with score of 74 and 76, respectively. Junior
Kent Gregory (McLeansboro, Ill.) tied for 11th place with a 78 while senior
Jacob Wherley (Ozark, Mo.) rounded out the team efforts with an 80.
Freshman
Erik Thulien (Appleton, Wis.) led the Prairie Stars' individuals with a score of 78.
On the women's side, three Prairie Stars tied for the top score. Junior
Becca Ramirez (Springfield, Ill.), freshman
Carly Hudon (St. Charles, Ill.) and senior
Liz Kesinger (Carrollton, Ill.) each carded an 84.
Three freshmen finished within four strokes of the leaders.
Chelsey Witkowiak (Muskego, Wis.),
Jordan Neyens (Pleasant Hill, Iowa) and
Taryn Pittman (Aledo, Texas) posted scores of 85, 86 and 88, respectively. Sophomore
Jocelyn Matsen (Springfield, Ill.) and freshman Brooke HIll (Saskatchewan, Canada) finished the one-day tournament with identical scores of 90.
