Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Millison, Harmon Score 18 Each to Lead UIS Past Ohio Dominican, 77-70

RENSSELAER, Ind. - Senior Jamall Millison (Bolingbrook, Ill.) and junior Paxton Harmon (Warsaw, Ind.) scored 18 a-piece to lead the University of Illinois Springfield men's basketball team to a 77-70 victory against Ohio Dominican at the St. Joseph's Tournament at the Scharf Fieldhouse.

Five Prairie Stars scored in double figures led by Millison and Harmon. Harmon knocked down four of his six three point attempts while Millison was 8-for-10 from the charity stripe. Seniors Davi Austin (Newark, NJ) and JJ Cravatta (Streator, Ill.) chipped in with 12 points each and redshirt freshman Vince Walker (Ankeny, Iowa) added 10. Austin, Cravatta and Walker made two three pointers each.

The Prairie Stars' bench was the story of the game as the UIS reserves outscored Ohio Dominican 52-18 and made 10 three pointers. UIS lost the rebounding battle 38-28 but made 23 of its 26 free throws on their way to victory.

The Springfield squad played from behind in the early minutes of the game but eventually came back to take the lead, 16-13, after back-to-back three balls from Harmon around the 10:12 minute mark. That kick started a 17-2 run over the next five minutes to help the Prairie Stars take a commanding 27-15 lead. A pair of free throws from Harmon capped off a strong half for UIS as it took a 38-24 lead into halftime.

In the second period, the Prairie Stars extended their lead to as many as 15 at the 8::07 minute mark. The Panthers started to take the momentum back though. An 18-7 run over the next four and-a-half minutes brought Ohio Dominican all the way back to within four, 66-62, with 3:48 left to play. UIS committed four turnovers during the run.

After the teams traded buckets,Austin drained a three pointer to give UIS a seven-point lead. Ohio Dominican hung around, scoring to stay within five points, 73-68, with 49 seconds left in the game. The Panthers scored again after a pair of missed free throws by the Prairie Stars to pull within three, but UIS sank its next four free throws to ice the game. The 77-70 win snapped the Prairie Stars' two-game skid.

UIS is back in action next weekend to open GLVC play against Bellarmine and Southern Indiana.
