How It Happened
  • The Prairie Stars had the first real scoring opportunity of the game after a Quincy foul. Nikki Auble has scored three goals on free kicks this season, but her effort in the seventh minute against the Hawks was denied by the Quincy goalkeeper. She was denied again in the 23rd minute.
  • Just moments later, Paige Polonus was called into action and made two saves in less than a minute. On the ensuing corner kick though, Quincy found the breakthrough as Ashley Burton tapped in a shot from close range to give the hosts the lead.
  • Three minutes later, the Hawks earned a penalty kick after a UIS foul, but Polonus came through for UIS and saved the penalty to keep the score at 1-0.
  • Polonus made two more saves in the latter stages of the period and Quincu took a 1-0 lead into the break.
  • Quincy doubled its advantage just minutes into the second period on a goal from Abby Pulliam.
  • The Prairie Stars nearly got on the board in the 57th minute when a ball was played off a Quincy player and nearly went into their own goal.
  • UIS struggled to put shots on target in the second half, only forcing one save from the Quincy keeper in the 87th minute. Quincy added a third goal in the 80th minute to win 3-0.

Coming Up Next
  • The Prairie Stars travel to McKendree on Wednesday to close out the regular season.
