- Freshman Grant Bauer (Maryville, Ill.): took two shots including one of the Prairie Stars best chances that was denied by UMSL's goalkeeper.
- Junior Dylan Stockman (Peoria, Ill.): was effective down the left wing, used his speed to beat defenders and serve the ball into the box.
How It Happened- After a relatively slow start to the game, UMSL created the first real chance to score when Chris Pearson ripped a shot that looked to be heading for the top-right corner. Tommy Geile made an excellent save to keep the visitors off the board.
- After a shot by junior Zachary Allevi (Adelaide, Australia) went wide in the 25th minute, the Prairie Stars didn't take another shot in the half.
- UIS ramped up the pressure in the second half, outshooting the Tritons 7-5 in the period. The Prairie Stars kept the ball on UMSL's end during a good stretch of play where Grant Bauer collected a loose ball in the box and sent a shot that was headed for the top shelf but UMSL's Jack Filla pushed it over the bar.
- In the 64th minute of play, UMSL's DJ Bednar laid the ball off to Jon Huelsman who sent a low shot past Tommy Geile for the game's first goal.Â
- Just five minutes later, the Tritons struck again on a counter attack when Richie Hoffman tucked home a shot to double the visitor's advantage.
Coming Up Next- The Prairie Stars travel to Truman State and Quincy next weekend before finishing the season on the road at McKendree.
