SPRINGFIELD, IL - The University of Illinois Springfield women's soccer team defeated Maryville, 1-0, Friday night at Kiwanis Stadium, setting a program record for wins in a season (5) and Great Lakes Valley Conference wins in a season (4).

UIS Top Peformers- Junior Nikki Auble (Plainfield, Ill.): scored the game-winning goal in the 34th minute on a free kick. It was her third goal of the season.
- Senior goalkeeper Paige Polonus (Plainfield, Ill.): recorded her sixth shutout of the season; made seven saves.
- Freshman Karisa Rogers (St. Charles, Mo.): took a team-high six shots including three on-goal.
How It Happened- Maryville seemed to the better side in the early going, pressuring the Prairie Stars and outshooting UIS 6-2 over the first 20 minutes. But as the game went on, the Prairie Stars began to find their chances.
- In the 34th minute, Karisa Rogers found herself in space with just the keeper to beat. Her shot was blocked by the keeper outside of the goal box, resulting in a yellow card.
- Nikki Auble took the free kick and sent a shot straight into the left corner of the net from around 23 yards away. It was her third goal of the season and she now leads the team in points with eight.
- The Prairie Star nearly doubled their advantage in the second half. In the 65th minute of play, Rogers had another chance against the Maryville keeper but the Saint's Bailey Doerflinger was up to the task, denying Rogers.
- The Saints fought to get back into the game but couldn't really break down the UIS defense. Paige Polonus made a pair of saves in the final 20 minutes of play as the Prairie Stars held on for the win.
Stats of the Game- The win is the fifth of the season and the fourth GLVC win of the season, both program records.
- All three of Nikki Auble's goals this season have come from free kicks.
- The Prairie Stars are tied with Wisconsin-Parkside for 10th place in the GLVC with four games left. The top eight teams advance to the GLVC tournament.
