FAYETTE, Iowa - Upper Iowa scored a pair of goals in each half to defeat the University of Illinois Springfield men's soccer team, 4-0, Wednesday afternoon at Pattison Field.

• Jack Coombes (Auckland, New Zealand): finished with a team-high two shots, including one on-goal.
• Will Teichman (Springfield, Ill.): was the only other Prairie Star to take a shot.
• Tommy Geile (O'Fallon, Mo.): stopped five shots to bring his season total to 57.

How It Happened

• Upper Iowa came out on the attack, keeping the Prairie Stars on the back foot for much of the game. The hosts took seven shots in the first 20 minutes. In the 20th minute the Peacocks neaerly took the lead on a shot that hit the crossbar. Just five minutes later, Upper Iowa found the breakthrough from Ryan Pinkerton to take a 1-0 lead.
• Just three minutes later, the hosts doubled their advantage on a shot to the far post to make the score 2-0.
• The Prairie Stars best chances came just before the 30th minute. Jack Coombes got on the end of a corner kick from sophomore Khalid Dhalla (Calgary, Canada) but his header sailed high. In the 32nd minute, Coombes headed another corner kick but his attempt was saved by Upper Iowa's Ludin Gonzalez.
• Geile was active in the second half, making four of his five saves. Upper Iowa added a pair of insurance goals in a ten minute span late in the game to win, 4-0.
