Emma Burkle (Crystal Lake, Ill.) recorded a career-high 10 kills in the University of Illinois Springfield volleyball team's 3-1 loss to Lindenwood Tuesday night at the Recreation and Athletic Center.

UIS Top Performers- Emma Burkle: finished with a team-high 10 kills while hitting .364. She also added a pair of block assists.
- Nikki Madoch (Algonquin, Ill.): recorded nine kills on 21 attempts. She also picked up three aces, a block solo and three block assists.
- Kayla Katarzynski (Winfield, Ill.): collected 23 digs to just one reception error.
How It Happened- After the teams traded points in the first set, the score was tied 6-6. The Prairie Stars scored four of the next five points to take a 10-7 lead. After a Lindenwood timeout, the visiting Lions went on a 7-0 run to take control of the set. The Lions finished the first set on an 18-7 run to win 25-17.
- In the second set, the Prairie Stars fell behind early, 3-0, but fought back to pull within one, 8-7. The teams traded points and Lindenwood held a 16-14 lead in the middle of the set.
- UIS opened up a 6-1 run to take a 20-17 lead. Later in the set, Nikki Madoch served back-to-back aces to give UIS a 24-19 lead, which they held onto to win the second set, 25-19.
- The third stanza was tight, with the score tied 8-8 after a Lindenwood kill. The hosts struggled to keep up with the Lions, falling behind 11-8 after three straight points by the visitors.
- The gap remained at three, 14-11 after another kill by Nikki Madoch. Lindenwood slowly increased its advantage and took the third set, 25-17.
- Lindenwood jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the fourth set, but UIS scored five of the next six points, including three straight kills by junior Ashley Beaton (Wildwood, Mo.), Burkle and Madoch to tie the game, 5-5.
- Another kill by Beaton later in the set made the score 14-13 in favor of the Lions. Lindenwood scored the next three points and six of the next seven points to take a commanding 20-14 lead in the fourth set. The visitors held on to take the fourth set, 25-16, and the match, 3-1.
