Nikki Madoch (Algonquin, Ill.) finished with a game-high 13 kills in the University of Illinois Springfield volleyball team's sweep of Malone, 25-17, 27-25, 25-23, Friday afternoon at the Great Lakes Center.

UIS Top Performers- Nikki Madoch: game-high 13 kills and a .480 hitting percentage. Also picked up two service aces and three block assists.
- Alyssa Hasler (South Bend, Ind.): tallied seven kills while sporting a .500 hitting percentage. Finished with a block solo and a pair of block assists.
- Emma Burkle (Crystal Lake, Ill.): second on the team with eight kills and tied for the team lead with three block assists.
How It Happened- The Prairie Stars got off to a quick start, capitalizing on two Malone errors to take a 3-0 lead. Malone came right back to tie the game at four.
- UIS hit .406 in the first set and used that hot hitting to take a four-point lead, 14-10. The Prairie Stars broke the set open with a 5-1 run to extend the lead to eight, 19-11. UIS cruised to a first-set win, 25-17.
- The second set was a back-and-forth affair that saw 14 ties. The Prairie Stars opened their largest lead of the set at 19-15, but Malone was quick to come back, scoring five of the next six points to tie the game.
- With the score tied at 25, a Malone error gave the Prairie Stars a set point, which they took advantage of as sophomore Lexi Hall (Champaign, Ill.) served up an ace to take the set, 27-25.
- The third set was another close one as neither team took a lead greater than two until back-to-back kills by Malone gave the Pioneers a 16-13 lead. Later in the set with UIS still trailing by two, the Prairie Stars scored three straight points beginning with a kill by Emma Burkle.
- After Malone scored to tie the game at 20, UIS scored four of the next five points, including kills from juniors Ashley Beaton (Wildwood, Mo.) and Nora Palermo (West Chicago, Ill.). Palermo gave the Prairie Stars the set and the win with a kill on the final point.
Coming Up Next- UIS plays a pair of games tomorrow at the Mizuno Midwest Regional Crossover. At 10 a.m. the Prairie Stars take on Walsh and then at 4 p.m. they take on Northwood.
