SPRINGFIELD, Ill. - After trailing by as many as 16 points in the second half, the University of Illinois Springfield women's basketball team rallied to within six points with three minutes to go but ultimately fell short to Indianapolis, 58-48, Saturday afternoon at Nicoson Hall.
The Greyhounds stretched their lead to as many as sixteen points at the nine minute-mark in the second half. The game was far from over, however, as the Prairie Stars used a 13-3 run to trim the deficit to six, 51-45, with three minutes remaining. Back-to-back three pointers from junior
Meredith Marti (Indianapolis, Ind.) helped kickstart the run. It was the second straight game that Marti has converted multiple three-point shots.

Jameeshia Armstrong (Chicago, Ill.) finished the run with three free throws, part of her team-high 12 points. She has scored in double-figures in four games this season.
Neither team converted a shot from the floor in the remainder of the game. UIndy iced the game away with seven free throws in the final minutes to earn a 58-48 victory.

Jessica Warren (University Park, Ill.) helped the Prairie Stars dominate the Greyhounds on the glass, 39-29. She finished with 10 rebounds, her fourth game in double-digits. Sopohomore
Syerra Cunningham (Beach Park, Ill.) added nine boards including four on the offensive end.
The hosts took control of the game early in the first half, opening on an 18-7 run. The Prairie Stars rallied with a run of their own, scoring 12 of the next 17 points to make the score 23-19 at the 6:49 minute-mark. Five different UIS players scored during the run.
UIndy scored the next five points and eventually took an eight-point lead into halftime. Eight different Prairie Stars scored in the first half.
Both squads shot under 35 percent in the game. UIndy made 21 free throws to UIS' 14. The Greyhounds' Princess German and Kelly Walter scored 24 and 20 points, respectively.
The Prairie Stars return home in the coming week to host Bellarmine and Southern Indiana.
