SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Freshman
Kaylan Mills (Oswego, Ill.) netted her first goal as a Prairie Star in the University of Illinois Springfield women's soccer team's 4-1 loss to Drury Sunday afternoon.
With the Prairie Stars trailing 1-0 after an early goal by the Panthers, Mills laced a shot from 20 yards out that found the back of the net to tie the game. Freshman
Regina Bolin (Kansas City, Mo.) recorded her first assist of the season and is second on the team with five points. The teams went into halftime with the score tied, 1-1.
UIS managed only three shots in the second period, none of which were on target. Senior
Kim Tokarski (Hobart, Ind.) and freshman
Alysa Manwill (St. Louis, Mo.) recorded back-to-back shots around the 70-minute mark but both sailed wide.
Drury broke the deadlock in the 61st minute when Mariah Gove converted a penalty kick, making the score 2-1. Gove tallied another goal in the 79th minute to increase the Panther's lead to 4-1.
Junior goalkeeper
Paige Polonus (Plainfield, Ill.) picked up four saves in the loss. She is second in the Great Lakes Valley Conference with 87 saves.
The Prairie Stars travel to Hannibal-LaGrange on Wednesday for a 3:30 p.m. game.
