Massengill became the first UIS baseball player to be named to the All-GLVC first team and led the Prairie Stars in a record-breaking season. He topped the team in batting average, hits and on-base percentage. He hit safely in a program-record 26 consecutive games and set the program single-season record for hits and batting average. He ranks in the top-50 in the nation in batting average while recording 20 multi-hit games. As a pitcher he went 2-2 with a 4.56 earned-run-average and 18 strikeouts.
