Peter Young joined the UIS Athletics Department as Associate Athletics Director for Compliance Services in October 2025. In this role, he leads the department’s compliance efforts, ensuring adherence to NCAA and GLVC rules, supporting student-athlete eligibility, and promoting integrity across all athletics programs.
Prior to joining UIS, Young served at Truman State University, where he gained extensive Division II athletics administration experience. He held the role of Co-Interim Director of Athletics, overseeing all 18 varsity programs and managing compliance, eligibility, and student-athlete support initiatives. Earlier at Truman, he served as Assistant Director of Athletics for Operations, supporting day-to-day department functions and helping coordinate program operations.
Young is also a former Division II student-athlete, having played varsity baseball at Truman State. During his playing career, he earned First-Team All-GLVC honors as a pitcher in 2017 and received the Josh “JD” DeRouse Award for work ethic and leadership in 2018.
A Springfield native and graduate of Sacred Heart-Griffin High School, Young earned a Master of Professional Studies from Missouri State University and a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from Truman State University.
