University of Illinois Springfield Athletics

Dr. David Bertaina is a professor in the University of Illinois Springfield's Department of History and serves as the University's Interim Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR) for 2026-27. In this role, he serves as UIS' designated representative to the NCAA and Great Lakes Valley Conference and helps promote academic integrity, institutional control and the overall well-being of UIS student-athletes.

Bertaina has been actively involved with UIS Athletics for several years. He serves as a faculty partner for the Prairie Stars men's and women's tennis programs and has served on the University's Intercollegiate Athletics Advisory Committee (IAAC), including three academic years as committee chair.
