D’Angelo Hughes joined the UIS women’s basketball coaching staff in 2023-24 and was promoted to full-time assistant coach in the summer of 2025. In his role, Hughes assists with all aspects of the program, including player development, game preparation, scouting, recruiting, and day-to-day operations.

Hughes played collegiate basketball at Ferris State University from 2016-2020, where he was part of the NCAA Division II National Championship team.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Ferris State University in 2020.

A Springfield, Ill. native, Hughes graduated from Southeast High School in 2016.
