Abby Kain is in her fourth year at the University of Illinois Springfield for the 2025–26 year and has been elevated to Associate Head Athletic Trainer. In her role, she provides athletic training services for the volleyball, women’s basketball, and cross country/track and field programs.
Kain earned a master’s degree in athletic training from Minnesota State University, Mankato in 2022. She previously attended the University of Northern Colorado, where she was a member of the women’s basketball team and completed a bachelor’s degree in sport and exercise science with a minor in nutrition in 2020. Kain appeared in 110 career games and was a four-time Big Sky All-Academic Team selection.
A BOC-certified athletic trainer since 2022, Kain is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association and the Illinois Athletic Trainers Association. Throughout her tenure at UIS, she has demonstrated strong leadership, dedication, and commitment to the health, safety, and success of Prairie Stars student-athletes.
