Michaela Gibbons

Michaela Gibbons is in her first season in 2022-23 as an assistant coach for the University of Illinois Springfield women’s basketball team.
 
Gibbons comes to UIS from Hood College where she was an assistant during the 2021-22 basketball season. She helped the Blazers allow just 63.8 points per game, including holding opponents to 36.5 percent shooting from the field and 26.2 percent shooting from three-point range. They forced over 19 turnovers a contest and blocked nearly four shots a game.
 
From 2017-2021, Gibbons was a member of the South Carolina Upstate women’s basketball team. She appeared in 101 games for the NCAA Division I Spartans, including 55 starts. In her career, she collected 595 points and 387 rebounds. She made 129 three-pointers, which ranked sixth in program history. She also served a team captain in her career.
 
Gibbons graduated from South Carolina Upstate in 2021 with as an Exercise Science major. She is currently working on her Master of Business Administration.
 
Gibbons is originally from Troutman, N.C.
