Rebeka Ferguson

Rebeka Ferguson joins the Prairie Star staff in 2017 after completing her playing career at Saint Xavier University. A native of Chatham, Illinois, Ferguson played high school softball for Glenwood and was named the 2011 Central State Eight Player of the Year by the State Journal-Register. 

Following her time at Glenwood, Ferguson went on to play for Heartland Community College where she was named to the All-Region 24 Team as well as the Mid-West Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year as well as the M-WAC First-Team All-Conference. 

After one year at Heartland, Ferguson transferred to Division I Indiana-Purdue For Wayne where she played in 42 of the teams 55 games, collecting eight doubles and 11 RBI.

For the past two seasons, Ferguson was a standout for NAIA powerhouse Saint Xavier. She was a National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Second Team All-American and was named to the Great Lakes All-Region First Team. In 2015, Ferguson was named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year after putting up the following numbers: .414 average, 53 runs, 77 hits, 20 doubles, 6 triples, 7 homeruns, 40 RBI, .699 slugging percentage, 1.168 OPS.

In the 2016 season, Ferguson was the starting shortstop for the Cougars during their run to a National Runner-Up finish. Ferguson was named to the NFCA Great Lakes All-Region shortstop and First-Team All-CCAC. 

After her career at Saint Xavier, she sits 7th in career batting average, 3rd in slugging percentage, and 3rd in on-base percentage.Â
