Dan Frank is in his seventh season as an assistant coach for the University of Illinois Springfield softball team in 2024-25. He assists the team’s outfielders.
During the 2022 season, UIS won 31 games, its first 30-win season since 2018. One of the players he worked with in the outfielder was all-GLVC and all-region performer Jillian Mathis.
In 2021, Frank helped UIS win 19 games and reach the GLVC Tournament. He helped coached outfielder Calla Wickenhauser, who earned first-team all-conference and first-team all-region honors.
Frank assisted the 2020 team which finished its shortened season with a 10-8 mark. That squad was the GLVC’s leaders in home runs and slugging percentage, and the three primary UIS outfielders had a combined .413 batting average on the year.
Frank came to UIS after two seasons as an assistant coach at Lincoln Land Community College. In 2018 and 2019, the Loggers went 58-45 overall. In 2018, the team advanced to the NJCAA Division II Nationals, and last season the program won a conference championship.
Frank was a coach at Benedictine University Springfield from 2013-15. He helped Benedictine qualify for its first conference tournament in 2014. He also coached at Southeast High School in Springfield, Ill. from 1996-2001.
Frank was a former employee for the City of Springfield, until his retirement in 2017.
Frank and his wife, Debbie, have two children, Mandy and Travis.
