Daniel Bernal joined the UIS tennis staff in January of 2017 after completing his playing career at Tennessee State University.
Bernal was a four-year standout at Tennessee State from 2013-16 where he graduated with a degree in finance. Bernal was named to the Ohio Valley Conference Second Team All-Conference and was only the second player from TSU to achieve that honor.
Spending most of his collegiate career playing in the #1 singles spot, Bernal held outstanding records against both conference and non-conference opponents during his senior year. He was named to the OVC Commissioner's Honor Roll in 2014, 15, and 16 and was the recipient of the Academic Excellence Award during his sophomore year.
After his senior season, Bernal was named the MVP of the team.
