Tyler Benton is in his third season in 2020 in working with UIS goalkeepers.
 
In his first year in 2018, Benton played a role in the development of Pijus Petkevicius, who earned second-team all-GLVC honors in his freshman season. Petkevicius had a 1.14 GAA, 53 saves, and a .716 save percentage. He set the program’s NCAA shutout record with eight during the year, and finished the year with a 9-6-3 mark.
In 2019, Petkevicius had another strong season with the help of Benton. He improved his save percentage to .736, and had a 1.23 GAA, 67 saves and five shutouts. He finished the year with a 9-8-2 overall record.
 
Benton is the Assistant Director of Coaching and Soccer for Midstate Soccer Club since 2018. He is also an IYSA Olympic Developmental Goalkeeper Coach. He has assisted in the past with collegiate team at Benedictine-Springfield and Lincoln Christian.
 
Benton currently holds the following coaching licenses and certifications: USSF National D license, Corerver youth diploma, NSCAA level 3 diploma, United Soccer Coaches Director of Coaching Diploma, US Youth Top Soccer Certificate, and United Soccer Coaches Advanced National Goalkeeper Diploma.
