Tucker Mathieson is in his third season as an assistant coach for the University of Illinois Springfield men’s soccer program in 2020.
 
In his first year in 2018, Mathieson was part of a UIS program that had its best season since moving to the NCAA level. The Prairie Stars went 9-6-3 overall and finished third in the conference with an 8-3-2 mark. UIS hosted a first-round GLVC Tournament game for the first time in program history.
 
In 2019, Mathieson helped the Prairie Stars win nine games for the second straight year. The Prairie Stars went 9-8-2 overall and 7-6-2 in GLVC play. UIS advanced to the GLVC Tournament once again.
 
In two seasons, Mathieson assisted in the development of players who earned four all-GLVC honors, including Rhys Wallace who also became the first first-team all-region performer in program history in 2018.
 
Prior to coming to UIS, Mathieson was a part of the Millikin soccer program for five years, including as an assistant coach in 2017. He helped coach two all-conference players, and the team finished the season strong, playing .500 soccer for the final five games of the year.
 
Mathieson was a four-year starter for Millikin, and served as a team captain for three seasons. He was the team’s leading scorer as a senior, and once earned Player of the Week honors. He was twice named to the CCIW Academic All-Conference team.
 
Mathieson also has coaching experience on the club level. He has served as an assistant coach and co-head coach for Decatur’s Midstate Soccer Club. He hold a USSF “D” License. He operated the Mathieson Speed Training Camp for three years, providing a youth speed training camp with an emphasis on soccer mechanics.
 
Mathieson earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Millikin.
