University of Illinois Springfield Athletics

Milt Tennant is in his 27th year of working with the Illinois Springfield men’s soccer program.
 
Tennant has served as assistant coach under Aydin Gonulsen, Joe Eck, Chad Jones and the current Prairie Star mentor Jesse Miech.

Tennant began his soccer coaching career in the youth ranks and helping with the Springfield YMCA. He also coached with the Illinois Olympic Development teams.

At UIS he has seen the program qualify for 20 NAIA national championship tournaments and he has been a part of three national championships (1986, 1988, 1993), a second place finish, along with reaching the semifinals on five separate occasions.

Tennant coached his son Mickey, who was a member of the Prairie Star soccer team from 1992-94, at UIS.
