Mario Falsone is in his third season as an assistant coach for the University of Illinois Springfield men’s soccer team in 2022. He is in his seventh year at UIS after being an all-conference player for four years.
Last season, Falsone was part of the coaching staff for the top NCAA team in program history. UIS went 13-6-2 on the season, and finished second in the GLVC with a 10-2-1 mark. In the postseason, the Prairie Stars advanced to the GLVC Tournament Championship game, and the third-round of the NCAA Tournament.
In his first season as an assistant coach in the spring of 2021, Falsone helped UIS go 4-4-3 overall, and advance to the GLVC Tournament.
Falsone was a four-year player for the Prairie Stars from 2016-19. In that span, he helped UIS go 33-31-6, and advanced to the GLVC Tournament three times. He was a two-time all-GLVC and all-region selection.
Falsone started 62 games in his career, and appeared in 70 games. He is the program’s NCAA career leader with 19 goals, 12 assists, 50 points, and five game-winning goals. He is also first with 103 shots attempts, and in the top-three in games played and games started.
Falsone is originally from Edinburgh, Scotland.
