The Prairie Stars continue the fall season with a busy week of competition on the field, on the court and on the course. Both UIS golf teams open their fall seasons, while volleyball and soccer continue non-conference and Great Lakes Valley Conference play. This week's events:
Tuesday, Sept. 8
All Day — Men's Golf at Arch Cup
Eight Prairie Stars will compete in the Arch Cup, hosted by McKendree at Gateway National Golf Club in the S. Louis area. The tournament begins the men's golf fall season.
All Day — Women's Golf at UIndy Invitational
Six UIS golfers will compete at Champions Pointe Golf Club in Henryville, Ind., to open the 2026 fall season.
Wednesday, Sept. 9
All Day — Men's Golf at Arch Cup
The men's golf season opener concludes Wednesday with the final round of competition.
All Day — Women's Golf at UIndy Invitational
The Prairie Stars will wrap up their season-opening tournament Wednesday morning.
5 p.m. — Women's Soccer at Drury
UIS (3-1, 1-0 GLVC) opened the season with a 5-1 win over Lincoln on Saturday. The Prairie Stars now travel to Springfield, Mo., to face Drury (0-2-2, 0-0-1 GLVC). The Panthers opened conference play with a 1-1 draw against Truman. UIS has defeated Drury three times in program history.
7:30 p.m. — Men's Soccer at Drury
The Prairie Stars (0-2-1, 0-0-1 GLVC) opened conference play with a scoreless draw against No. 11 Lincoln at Kiwanis Stadium. UIS now faces Drury (3-1, 1-0 GLVC), which defeated Truman 3-1 over the weekend. The all-time series is close, with UIS holding an 8-6-5 advantage.
Friday, Sept. 11
1 p.m. — Volleyball vs. Central Missouri (2026 Holiday Inn Express Griffon Volleyball Invitational)
UIS (2-5) continues non-conference play at Missouri Western this week. The Prairie Stars went 2-1 at the Kentucky Wesleyan Invitational last week, defeating the host Panthers 3-1 on Saturday night. Central Missouri (4-4) has faced a challenging early-season schedule and earned a 3-1 win over No. 7 MSU-Denver last weekend.
6 p.m. — Volleyball vs. Missouri Western (2026 Holiday Inn Express Griffon Volleyball Invitational)
The Prairie Stars face tournament host Missouri Western (7-1), which went 3-1 last weekend, including a win over No. 10 Southwest Minnesota State.
Saturday, Sept. 12
12 p.m. — Men's Soccer at St. Cloud State
UIS travels to St. Cloud, Minnesota, to face St. Cloud State (1-2-0). The Huskies defeated Truman 3-2 before falling to Quincy 5-1. St. Cloud State visited Springfield in 2024 and won 3-2 in the only meeting between the programs. UIS will look to even the all-time series.
2:30 p.m. — Volleyball vs. Arkansas Tech (2026 Holiday Inn Express Griffon Volleyball Invitational)
UIS closes out the tournament against Arkansas Tech (5-3), which had won four straight matches before falling to Pittsburg State on Friday.
