The Illinois Springfield women's golf team finished sixth of nine teams at the Coyote Creek Classic on Monday, carding a three-round total of 969 at Coyote Creek Golf Club.

The Prairie Stars opened the tournament with a 318 on Sunday before shooting a 324 in the second round. UIS closed the tournament with a 327 on Monday to finish sixth in a primarily Division I field.

Millie Roach led the Prairie Stars individually, finishing 14th with a 236 total. She opened with a 78, followed by a 77 in the second round and an 81 in the final round.

Valentina Torrealba placed tied for 20th with a 241, shooting rounds of 82, 79 and 80. Gracie Russell finished tied for 27th at 245 after rounds of 79, 83 and 83.

Brooke Hartman carded a 251 to finish 35th, with rounds of 79, 86 and 86, while Mackenzie Reeves rounded out the UIS squad in 36th with a 252 after shooting 84, 85 and 83.

"This was a valuable week for us competing against a strong Division I field," said head coach Josh Edison. "It wasn't the finish we wanted, but it gave us great exposure to the level we need to continue working toward. Valentina really stepped up for us, Brooke Hartman had a solid opening round as a freshman and continues to progress, and Millie continued to show some really positive strides. I'm excited about where this group is headed and looking forward to finishing the fall strong at McKendree."

The Prairie Stars take a break before wrapping up the fall season at McKendree's Bearcat Dual Gender on Oct. 20-21.
