The UIS men's tennis team opened its spring season Saturday with a 5-2 loss at Tiffin.
Tiffin claimed the doubles point, though UIS picked up a win at No. 3 doubles as Luke Pieringer and
Antonio Ayerbe Streubel posted a 6-2 victory.
UIS earned two points in singles play. At No. 1 singles,
Pablo Herrera rallied for a three-set win, 2-6, 6-3, 6-4.
Luke Pennington added the Stars' second point with a straight-set victory at No. 5 singles, winning 6-4, 6-0.
Tiffin secured the remaining singles matches.
Antonio Ayerbe Streubel fell 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2, while
Lin En Tan dropped a 6-2, 6-1 result at No. 3. At No. 4, Kai Van Roon played a tight first set before falling 7-6 (4), 6-2.
Miran Todorovic completed the lineup with a 6-2, 6-1 loss at No. 6.
The Stars continue their spring-opening road trip on Sunday with a match at Findlay.
