As part of UIS Athletics' 15 Years of NCAA Division II Membership celebration, the department is highlighting 15 standout teams and 15 standout student-athletes who have shaped the program's Division II era. Each week, UIS features one team and one player, honoring the accomplishments, championship moments, and legacy-building performances that have defined Prairie Stars Athletics.
Alli Splitt is one of the most impactful and efficient players in UIS volleyball history, anchoring the Prairie Stars at the net from 2016 through 2019 and helping lead the program through its most successful four-year stretch in the Division II era.
Splitt made an immediate impact as a freshman in 2016, appearing in 31 matches and 115 sets while leading the GLVC with a .367 hitting percentage, a mark that ranked 16th nationally and first among all Division II freshmen. She finished the season with 314 kills, ranked among the conference's top five, recorded 14 matches with double-digit kills, and added 92 blocks and 385.5 points, establishing herself as one of the league's most efficient attackers. Her consistency continued in 2017, as she appeared in all 33 matches and ranked second on the team with a .285 hitting percentage. She finished the season with 258 kills and 96 blocks.
Splitt's junior season in 2018 brought her highest level of national and conference recognition. She earned AVCA Honorable Mention All-American and All-Region honors and was named First Team All-GLVC. Starting all 33 matches and playing in all 122 sets, she led the GLVC with a .354 hitting percentage and ranked among the nation's leaders in blocks per set. She finished the season with a team-high 419.0 points, the most by a Prairie Stars player since the program transitioned to the NCAA level, while helping UIS capture the GLVC regular season championship and advance to the NCAA Tournament.
Splitt closed her career with Second Team All-GLVC honors in 2019, completing a four-year run in which UIS went 77-53 overall and posted three straight seasons with 19 or more wins.
Over her career, Splitt played in 130 matches and 470 sets, totaling 1,218 kills, 436 blocks, and 1,546 points. She remains the program's all-time leader in career hitting percentage (.329), ranks second in career kills and points, and sits third in career blocks. She also holds UIS records for blocks in a match (15) and single-season hitting percentage (.367) , with all four of her seasons ranking among the program's top 10 for single-season attack percentage.
Splitt also excelled academically, earning two GLVC Academic All-Conference honors and the GLVC Brother James Gaffney Distinguished Scholar Award as a senior. She later returned to the program as an assistant coach for the 2020 and 2021 seasons, continuing her influence on Prairie Stars volleyball.
Defined by efficiency, consistency, and championship-level performance, Alli Splitt helped elevate UIS volleyball during its Division II era and left a legacy that continues to shape the program today.
