Illinois Springfield Women’s Cross Country Set for Lucian Rosa Invite

9/26/2025 9:00:00 AM

The Illinois Springfield women's cross country team will line up for its biggest test of the season Saturday at the Lucian Rosa Invite, hosted by Wisconsin-Parkside at the Wayne E. Dannehl Cross Country Course in Kenosha, Wis.

The meet features a deep field with nationally and regionally ranked programs from across NCAA Division II, as well as teams from other collegiate levels. The women's 6K championship race, set for 9:30 a.m., will be highlighted by Midwest Region powers Grand Valley State, Cedarville, and Parkside. An open 6k will follow at 11:00 a.m., as team's entries are limited in the championship race.

UIS, picked No. 3 in the GLVC preseason poll, will also face Southwest Baptist, which was tabbed second. The matchup marks the first head-to-head meeting of the year between the two, with regional implications on the line. The Prairie Stars will look to close the gap on regionally ranked opponents such as SBU, Saginaw Valley State, and Wayne State.

UW-Parkside's course, known nationally for its rolling, wooded layout, is set to host the NCAA Midwest Regional in November. The chance to preview the championship site has drawn teams from across the country to Kenosha.
