The UIS volleyball team fell to Truman State in four sets on Saturday at TRAC, 25-11, 17-25, 17-25, 23-25. The match marked the Prairie Stars' final home game and senior day, honoring
Erica Sledge,
Bella Hodges,
Lexie Vick, and
Alexis Schwartz.
UIS came out strong in the opening set, taking control early and never looking back. After a 5-1 start that included a kill from
Kendall Johnson and back-to-back aces by
Madison Siefken, the Prairie Stars rolled to a 25-11 win behind balanced attacks from Johnson,
Makenna Cox, and Vick.
Truman State responded by controlling the next two sets. The Bulldogs capitalized on UIS errors in the second set, pulling away for a 25-17 win. In the third, UIS grabbed an early lead before Truman's offense, led by Jessica Proszenyak and Makayla Way, shifted momentum to take another 25-17 set.
The fourth set was tightly contested, with UIS fighting back from an early deficit. Vick, Hodges, and Cox helped keep the Prairie Stars within striking distance, but late service errors and Truman's steady attack sealed the 25-23 set and the match.
Sledge, playing in her 100th career match, led UIS with 31 assists, along with eight digs and two aces. Cox tallied 13 kills and 17 digs, while Johnson added 13 kills and hit .243. Siefken contributed six kills, three aces, and 10 digs.
