Illinois Springfield outside hitter Makenna Cox has been named the GLVC Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday. The recognition marks the first weekly honor of her collegiate career.

A redshirt sophomore from Springfield majoring in Mathematical Sciences, Cox helped the Prairie Stars go 2-1 at the Midwest Regional Crossover over the weekend. She opened the weekend with 20 kills in a 3-1 victory over Lake Superior State and later added a strong showing against Kentucky Wesleyan, where she recorded 15 kills, eight digs, five service aces, and hit an impressive .448. Cox was also named to the Midwest Regional Crossover All-Tournament Team after the weekend.

Across eleven sets, she totaled 51 kills and 62 points, hitting .314 overall, while adding 29 digs, eight service aces, six assists, and six assisted blocks.

Cox is the first UIS player to earn Offensive Player of the Week honors since Hannah Nicolaisen on Nov. 1, 2021, and continues to be a key offensive leader for the Prairie Stars this season.
