The University of Illinois Springfield baseball team lost a back-and-forth game against Drury to start the series on Friday night. The Prairie Stars drop to 19-15 overall with a 10-11 record in GLVC play. The Panthers move to 18-14 overall with a 16-5 conference record. 

GAME SUMMARY (L, 6-10)

• The Prairie Stars jumped out to an early lead in the top of the first inning on an RBI single from TJ Yakimisky 

• Drury responded in the bottom of the first with an RBI single of their own, followed by a groundout which brought home a run a 2-1 DU lead

• The Panthers added two more runs in the second on an RBI single and an RBI double to lead 4-1

• UIS cut into the lead in the fourth as TJ Yakimisky hit a triple to earn his second RBI of the day

• Johnny Wendling then grounded out to the shortstop, bringing Yakimisky home

• Drury responded in the bottom of the fourth with an RBI single

• The Panthers brought home another run on a fielder's choice, making it 6-3

• UIS scored a run in the sixth as Johnny Colombo doubled to right field

• The Prairie Stars tied the game in the eighth 

• Johnny Wendling brought a run home as he grounded into a fielder's choice

• Wendling scored on a wild pitch to make it 6-6

• With the bases loaded in the bottom of the eighth, Brandon Holdren hit a grand slam for the Panthers to take a 10-6 lead

• The Prairie Stars went down 1-2-3 in the top of the ninth

• Adam Wibbenmeyer (1-2) earned the loss on the mound

The series continues tomorrow with a doubleheader. First pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
