Vanaman Leads Stars to Huge Comeback Win Against Davenport

The University of Illinois Springfield baseball team was able to earn a big comeback win against Davenport in their home opener on Friday afternoon. UIS improves to 5-2 on the season while Davenport sinks to 0-5. 

Game Summary

  • DU began the scoring in the top of the first on an RBI double

  • Gavin Wahlbrink pitched out of the jam the rest of the inning

  • Davenport extended their lead to 5-0 behind a 2 RBI single followed by a two-run homer

  • UIS started the comeback in the bottom of the second as Jackson Blemler drove in a run on a fielder's choice

  • Brant Vanaman tripled to drive in two more runs to make it 5-3 in the second

  • Ivan Dahlberg hit a home run in the bottom of the third to trim the Davenport lead to 5-4

  • UIS was able to take the lead in the sixth inning as Brant Vanaman hit a deep home run to right field to take a 7-5 lead

  • The Prairie Stars hung a 6 spot in the seventh inning to take complete control of the game

  • UIS scored on two walks, a wild pitch, an error, and a single by Jacyk Uehling

  • The scoring didn't stop there for the Stars as they added 3 more to end the game by run rule

  • Blemler drove in another run with a single to center

  • Vanaman drove in his sixth and seventh runs of the game with a game-ending single to right field
