Prairie Stars Softball Earns Two Wins on Saturday

The UIS softball team picked up two wins on Saturday to wrap up play at the Alvy Early Memorial Classic. The Prairie Stars are off to a 3-1 start in 2024 with an average of 7.5 runs per game.
GAME ONE VS. MSSU (W, 9-0)
GAME TWO VS. HARDING (W, 9-8)
  • Addyson McClure had the start in the circle. Rosie Bartletti entered in the fourth and handled the remainder of the game, striking out three and letting up one earned run
  • Harding scored three runs on three hits in the 1st, the first two coming from a two-run homer
  • Rosie Bartletti and Ella Brinkley scored runs for UIS in the top of the 3rd inning
  • UIS scored four runs in the top of the 4th with the help of extra-base hits by Taylor Zawacki and Adi Rumler, as well as a stolen base by Rosie Bartletti
  • Harding responded with four runs of their own in the bottom of the inning to lead 7-6
  • UIS went up 8–7 in the top of the 5th on singles by Malia Bender, Taylor Zawacki, and Rosie Bartletti. The first run came in on a bases loaded walk while the second run was scored by Zawacki
  • Harding managed the game-tying run in the 6th, an inning UIS escaped with two on base
  • Zawacki set the tone in the 7th with a double. Kelsie Burrows pinch ran for Zawacki and stole third. A Rosie Bartletti sac fly allowed Burrows to come home with the needed run
