UIS fell to the Drury Panthers on Friday in an elimination game at the Great Lakes Valley Conference softball tournament.
The Prairie Stars entered the tournament as the No. 5 seed and faced No. 4 Maryville in the first game. That matchup went to the eighth inning where the Saints ended it with a walkoff single.
No. 5 UIS was then set to face No. 8 Drury in their second game of the double elimination tournament. It was an eleven-inning battle that went on for over three hours before the Panthers scored on a wild pitch to win it. The Prairie Stars were therefore eliminated, but await a bid to the NCAA DII Midwest Regionals after being ranked fourth in the Midwest again this week.
