The University of Illinois Springfield men's tennis team dropped two matches in their final weekend of home competition. UIS went 0-4 in matchups against GLVC neighbor McKendree and No. 5 Indianapolis.
UIndy (L, 4-0)
UIS fell 6-3 in No. 1 and No. 2 doubles before No. 3 doubles was left unfinished at 5-4 with UIS in the lead. The Greyhound's No. 1 singles pairing is 23-0 this season.
Pablo Herrera put up a fight in No. 3 singles but was held off in a 7-5 loss in set two.
MCK (L, 4-0)
Arthur Figuiere and
Sebastian Jonsson defeated their opponents 6-1 in No. 2 doubles but UIS was unable to come away with the point after falling 6-3, 6-1 in the other two spots.
McKendree completed the sweep of UIS across three singles matches.
Arthur Figuiere retired after playing close sets.
UIS, now 3-7, will take on Missouri-St. Louis and Maryville on the road next weekend to close out the regular season.
