The University of Illinois Springfield baseball team improved their record to 13-5 after winning three-of-four in their conference opener series versus the Drury Panthers. The Prairie Stars combined for 26 runs over the series. The teams played single 9-inning games on Friday and Saturday, then a 7-inning doubleheader on Sunday at the UIS Baseball Field.
GAME ONE (W, 6-5)
Chad Saner started it off for UIS. The Prairie Stars scored two runs in the bottom of the second, and Drury scored one run in each of the third and fourth innings. The score was 6-4 as Drury took their last at-bat. The Panthers were able to snuck in one run, but left the bases loaded as UIS earned the first win of the weekend.Â

Johnny Colombo hit doubles for the Prairie Stars, and
Asher Bradd,
Brandon Bannon, and
Will Oberg each stole one base.Â
GAME TWO (W, 9-1)
Adam Brouwer had the start in UIS's 9-1 win on Saturday. Brouwer allowed just two hits and struck out five Panthers in five innings. The UIS pitching staff held Drury scoreless through eight innings and allowed just four hits during the game.Â
Brant Vanaman and
Johnny Colombo each had a pair of hits, with Vanaman also scoring three runs.
Ivan Dahlberg and
Will Oberg homered on Saturday.
GAME THREE (W, 8--4)
The Drury Panthers started play on Sunday with one run in the first inning, to which the Prairie Stars responded with four of their own. Drury was able to tie it up 3-3 in the third, but UIS had a three-run fourth inning to take the game away from the Panthers.Â
Brandon Bannon led the offense with three hits in three at-bats, two runs and two RBI. Bannon homered for the second time this season, and
Ivan Dahlberg hit his second home run of the weekend.
Braden Roesch earned the win in game three with seven strikeouts in four innings.Â
GAME FOUR (L, 5-3)
UIS dropped the series finale when the Prairie Stars had just five hits in comparison to Drury's ten. The Panthers scored enough runs early on to put UIS out of contention.
Will Oberg scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the sixth where UIS left one on base.
The Prairie Stars will face the Lewis Flyers in a four-game series next weekend in Romeoville, Ill.Â
