Prairie Stars Cross Country Runners Prep for Nationals

Two individuals on the UIS men's cross country team are set to race at the NCAA DII Cross Country Championships in Joplin, Mo. this weekend. Cort Ross and Noah McIntyre qualified out of the Midwest Regional, Ross by finishing third and McIntyre by finishing 13th. Each runner has raced at the national championship meet once before, last year when the team qualified for the first time. 

The men's race is scheduled for an 11:15 a.m. Central time start at Tom Rutledge Cross Country Course.

Cort Ross
Ross was the 2023 GLVC Champion and finished third at the Midwest Regional. He is a two-time All-Region runner in cross country and helped the team qualify for its first national berth in 2022. He finished 99th at the National Championships last fall.

Noah McIntyre
McIntyre finished third at the GLVC Championships in October. He went on to finish 13th at the Midwest Regional to advance as an individual. McIntyre placed 43rd at the NCAA Championships in 2022, just missing USTFCCCA All-American status. McIntyre is a second-time All-GLVC runner and first-time All-Region honoree.
