The University of Illinois Springfield men's soccer team remained unbeaten at home after tying McKendree on Sunday in Springfield, Ill. Both squads scored once in the deadlock.
Â
The Bearcats needed just 49 seconds to score their goal as they struck in the first minute of the game. UIS outshot McKendree 6-2 after that for the period, but neither team scored again before halftime.
Â
After halftime, it was the Prairie Stars that scored an early goal.
Max Tweddle connected in the 49th minute, with assists to
Terence Bynoe and
Anton Aduwa-Emovon. That was it for the scoring as the two teams tied despite UIS having an 11-5 shot advantage and 5-2 lead on shots on goal.
Â
UIS moves to 2-3-3 on the season, and 1-1-3 in GLC play. The Prairie Stars are 1-0-3 at home this season, and are unbeaten in their last nine home games. UIS won't get an opportunity next week to extend that streak as it goes on the road to face Lewis on Friday night.
